Everyone loves a holiday – when you lock up your home and travel away someplace restful for a much-deserved break. Are you going anywhere special this year? Heading to the mountains for some quiet seclusion? Or maybe you’ve planned a private camping trip? There are plenty of great getaways for resting and unwinding, but none quite compare to the mindful and peaceful escape of beach holidays. Do you agree? After reading these five reasons to head to the beach, trust us, you’ll be packing your swim towel and umbrella faster than you can say ‘let’s take it back to the beach’.

5 reasons to love beach holidays:

1. Well-being

When looking out over an endless, expansive ocean, we often feel an overwhelming sense of peace. It’s been psychologically proven that staring at the sea, often referred to as ‘blue space’, has a calming effect on our minds and bodies. So if you feel at your most centred when at the beach, rest assured you’re not alone. The urge to escape to the seaside is part of our biological make-up, and for a good reason.

2. Fresh air

Spending too much time indoors is never a good thing. For health, and wellbeing. But the reality is, most of us have jobs that require us to sit at a desk under artificial lighting, breathing in that all-too-familiar ‘stale’ indoor air that we’ve become accustomed to. If you share in this nine-to-five desk job lifestyle, you’ll find beach holidays really refreshing. They give you the opportunity to take deep, fresh breaths of clean, salty air, cleansing your lungs, strengthening your immune system and clearing your mind.

3. Cultural immersion

Meeting island locals is a fine way to refocus your mind, and take a break from thinking about work and the responsibilities of everyday life. Immersing yourself in cultural activities, trying out local foods, and experiencing a different way of life refreshes the soul and inspires a positive outlook on life. Why not give it a try for your next holiday?

4. Ocean life and activities

It goes without saying that there is plenty to do at the beach. Sunbathing and building sandcastles with family members, snorkelling, jet-skiing, surfing, bobbing in the swells, listening to the peaceful sounds of seagulls – have we said enough? Beach activities are just wonderful. There’s simply no doubt about it!

5. Rest and renewal

When you come home from the beach, don’t you immediately feel the urge to take a little nap? That’s thanks to the feeling of total relaxation that comes with spending a day at the beach. When your mind is de-cluttered and free, your body will reward you with a feeling of calmness, freeing you to sleep peacefully and wake up feeling completely refreshed.

Don’t worry, beach happy
